FA Charter Standard Club Programme

The FA Charter Standard Club programme is an accreditation award scheme that recognises and rewards good practice.

The scheme is a core component of the FA Football Development programme that establishes minimum operating standards for grassroots club and acts as a quality assurance mechanism recognising and rewarding well run clubs.

As a benchmark for quality, it should improve the experience for all involved in the game, by raising standards.

There are three levels within the award that clubs can achieve:

FA Charter Standard Club Award (Youth & Adult):

This award is available for both Youth and Adult Clubs. Clubs with one team can apply. Youth Clubs need to demonstrate good management, child protection, qualified coaches, codes of conduct and insurance, while Adult Clubs require good management, insurance, first aid qualifications and codes of conduct.

FA Charter Standard Development Clubs:

These clubs must have met the criteria for Charter Standard Clubs and must also have at least five teams and a Football Development Plan.

FA Charter Standard Community Clubs:

The pinnacle of the Charter Standard Programme. In addition to meeting all of the Charter Standard Club criteria, clubs need a minimum of 10 teams including mini soccer, youth and adult, and a three to five year Football Development Plan.
